The Bucket Tie Down Kit solves this problem easily. Just mount the deckplate wherever you want the bucket to reside. Drill a 1/4" hole in the bottom of the bucket. Place the bucket over the deckplate and secure it with the eyebolt/rubber washer. Not only will the bucket stay in place, it will not leak!

And as usual, when the bucket is not needed, there is nothing to trip over.
